What and Who to Bring

Please email us at sls@wsu.edu with any information relevant to your consultation or legal documentation prior to your meeting as it relates to the nature of your visit.  Please refrain from bringing guests to your consultation.

Conflicts of Interest

Student Legal Services is an entity of Washington State University. The employees of SLS are, thus, employees of the University. Therefore, we are unable to give legal advice on cases that deal with:

  • Washington State University (issues with other University offices, such as the Center for Community Standards, Office of Financial Aid, etc.)
  • WSU Student vs. WSU Student
  • WSU Student vs. WSU Faculty or Staff

Students with a conflict of interest or in need of assistance with a topic of law our attorney does not provide will be referred to another law office in the area or a service at WSU that may be able to help.

Areas We Cannot Assist In

Our attorneys are only licensed in the states of Washington and Idaho, therefore if a legal matter is occurring in any other state, our attorney will not be able to assist. Additionally, any area of law that is highly specialized, including but not limited to Patent, Workers' Compensation, Immigration, Personal Injury, and Medicare/Medicaid we will not be able to assist in. Even though we are unable to set up a consultation for these circumstances, we are able to provide referrals to attorneys who practice in these areas, so please still reach out to our office.

Who Is Eligible for a Consultation?

Student Legal Services provides legal consultations to current, undergraduate, full-time WSU students on the WSU Pullman campus.
